Week 3 - Bullying Free Week

Congratulations to Jerry and George for receiving certificates this week -
great photo boys!  Keep up the good work.

We have been lucky to have Miss Muir in our classroom this week.
She is a student teacher and will be back in September for 3 more weeks!
Lucky Room 16!!

This week is Bulling Free New Zealand Week.

Room 16 have been learning what bullying looks like, how someone being bullied feels, how to take action if we are are others are being bullied.  We have also identified that we all have a support 'web' of people around us, that we can ask for help.  We have been working on this each afternoon.

Our favorite activity was the bruised and beautiful apples activity.  We learnt about the damage and hurt bullying, or even the occasional negative and horrible comment, causes, that we do not see.  We also realized that we can't take back or remove the hurt by saying something nice.  Unkind words hurt us on the inside.

After this, we practiced paying each other compliment.  We all agreed it was lovely to receive them.
On Wednesday, we all taped a paper apple to our backs and spent some time writing positive things on our classmates apples.  Reading all the lovely things written in our apples made us all feel good it also made us feel good to fill our classmates apples with positive comments.   It was lovely watching you all read your apples!!!

Here is the link to Oat the Goat - a pick a path story that we explored in class.
Have fun sharing it with your younger family members!
