Week 4

Congratulations to our deserving School Certificate recipient this week!

Another great week in Room 16 - we have been trying to get our heads around the distances in space.  We paced out the position of the planets in our Solar System from the Sun,  using a scale of one step to 36 million miles (or thereabouts)!  Massive distances which are hard for us to understand.  In Maths we have been Problem Solving - breaking down the steps required and showing our working out.  Tee Ball has been fun with lots of children showing progress in their batting skills from the first to the last session.  We have been learning about Galileo, and timelines around changes of thinking and technological advances in space exploration in Reading.  Writing has seen our Moment in Time writing completed.

Our amazing self portraits, in the style of artist James Rizzi, are now all displayed, remember to have a look when you come to the parent interviews this week.  In preparation for these children have been learning about SMART goal setting.

Looking forward to meeting with you Thursday - have a great weekend everyone!

Week 3

Congratulations to our certificate winners this week!

Every morning we begin with a waiata - its a lovely way to start the school day and brings us together, focused for the day ahead.

Here is us singing E Toru Ng Mea!

We have been learning about Chinese New Year this week, we made some lanterns and have been learning how to write riddles - here are a couple - can you work out the answer?

I am water but you can not drink me
I flow nicely within the wind
I reflect just like a mirror
I sometimes race with the wind
I flow down a very long way
Sometimes I am really high
What am I ?

By Deonna

I am made up of one square or more
I have glass squares all over me
You put everything you own in me
There are alot of me
You are in me every day
What am I?

By Gemma

I feel glassy
I am still and make no sound
You rise upon me
I look tall
I am hard to move
But easy to see
What am I?
