End of Term 3

Congratulations to Hayan for receiving the full school certificate this week.
Well done!

Congratulations to all our "1 Summer" Room 16 nominees and Category winners !

We said goodbye to Miss Muir this week, the children were sad to see her go as they have enjoyed her  being in our class.  We had lots of fun learning about Non-Newtonian Liquids - Ooblek, and conducted the sink float test in the classroom and then the Push, Pick up, Shape and Pour test out on the field.  Remember if you want to make some more at home

the Ratio is 2 : 1 (1 cup of cornflour to 1/2 cup of water).

We enjoyed playing T -Ball Rounders against Room 21 and definitely improved our game from one game to the next.  We are looking forward to more games next term.

We finished the term presenting plays to the class.  The characterization used in these plays was much further developed than in Term One, thanks to the experience the children have gained by participating in 1 Summer.

Term 3 Mid Term update!

Congratulations to our Certificate Winners this term, very deserving - keep up the great work!

Thanks to some technological issues and an extremely busy term, updates have not been as regular as usual - here are a few photos from the last few weeks.

Production has been moving along nicely with most of Room 16 involved.  Those not involved have been creating  in Visual Art in Room 23 with Mrs Jowett.  Everyone has been focused on the task at hand and it has been so awesome to see the talent in Room 16 -  both on stage and off.  I hope everyone has purchased their tickets!

In between production, we have been busy learning about 12 and 24 hour time and solving problems using both in Maths.  We are also focusing on Fractions this term.  We have done some fantastic retell writing of Rapunzel with a New Zealand twist.  Some really creative ideas have included in the children's writing.

In Visual Art the children had to identify images that reflected themselves and create a collage with their chosen images.  Next they had to use a viewfinder to choose a small square of their collage to enlarge and paint using watercolours.  It would be lovely to see you in the classroom if you are able to pop in and view - Room 16 are very proud of their efforts.

Calendar Art has been the recent art focus and the children have worked very very hard to learn some new techniques to create a truly pleasing piece -  they will be amazing as calendars!

For the first half of the term we focused on Skipping for Fitness - enjoyed by all - well done to all the skippers that mastered new skills.

For the last few weeks we have been doing Bootcamp -  lots of fun and laughs!

Congratulations to all the Cross Country runners - Room 16 had 6 - 7 in the top 10 which is a great effort.

Lastly, we welcome Ms Muir back into Room 16 next week - she will be working with us for the rest of the term on student placement from AUT.

Trash to Treaure Travelwise Day - what a great effort Room 16, you all looked awesome
